Alisa was honored to receive a commission for a painting of the University of California, Irvine (UCI) bridge for Jim Waldron, the UCI liaison to Honors Transfer Council of California (HTCC), who helped and supported organizing the HTCC Conference on the UCI campus for twelve years.
This bridge holds a special place in Jim’s heart, and it is a recognizable UCI campus landmark while thousands of students cross it every day. Not only does this bridge have a solid and sound structure that is elegant and aesthetically pleasing to look at, it also represents a symbol of transitions and crossing from one stage to another, growing and evolving. This bridge is of sentimental value and memorializes the amazing work Jim did while the UCI liaison to HTCC, and Alisa was humbled to paint a tribute to him.
The painting was presented to Jim in front of several hundreds of conference attendees, organizers, and volunteers. It was a true honor to celebrate his accomplishments, especially with Jim Waldron being present there.
Selected abstracts from each conference are being published in an annual Abstract book (you can find them on Amazon, a non-affiliate link), and the photo of that UCI Bridge graces the cover of each edition. This shows how much intertwined the UCI bridge is to the HTCC Conference, and Alisa truly enjoyed being a part of the celebration. Note the Slogan on the Abstract book - learn how Alisa invented it here!
